The Recipe Dilemma

Does anyone else collect recipes? I do, and I have collected a huge number of them. See the binders above? The binder on the left is full of recipes that I’ve already tried, and the binder on the right is full of recipes I want to try. Yes. I have a LOT of recipes. And yes, the goal is to have most of them posted on here eventually.

This of course has me wondering, is it possible to have too many recipes? At this point I have a lot, but I don’t think it’s overwhelming….yet. When I speak with my mom about it her situation sounds much more dire. She has multiple binders and folders taking up an entire room of the house full of recipes she wants to try. Compared to that, a single binder of new recipes doesn’t sound bad at all, right?

Maybe?

Well the other day I decided to go through the binder on the right, and thanks to magazines putting the dates on the pages of the recipes I’ve ripped out, I discovered I have recipes dating back to 2008 that I still haven’t tried. This of course had me wondering, should I finally try this recipe, or should I toss it. If it’s been almost 15 years and I still haven’t reached for that one, am I ever going to really want to make it?

It’s a tough call, I’ve had some recipes I’ve been lukewarm about and it has turned into one of my favorite (the chickpea salad is one of these, need to get that one posted!). So maybe it’s best to hang on to these older ones because who knows, one day I may finally get around to making them and they may turn into a new favorite!

But for tonight, I’m going back to an old favorite because, welp, guess I’m not quite ready to try those old new ones just yet!
